Shadow Monster 10-27-18 (Live @ Hartstop)
Halloween is always one of my favorite times of the year as the creative juices & festive spirits are out in abundance. Such was the case over the Halloween weekend when many shows throughout NYC featured talented artists performing as someone else. Such was the case when I had the honor of catching Shadow Monster’s Gillian Leigh Visco perform as Elliott Smith at Hartstop.
While I have heard Elliott Smith’s name many times over the years, I was never familiar with his music (I know, I am ashamed to admit that!) so I had some serious catching up to do before the show.
After doing so, I can say that Gillian did an amazing job with her entire set invoking the raw emotion & deep connection that his music was known for especially on Between The Bars, I Figured You Out & the finale A Fond Farewell. She definitely made Elliott proud on this night & everyone in the packed house agreed!
