Shadow Monster 04-23-18 (Live @ Baby’s All Right)

Monday’s are usually a busy day for me as I set the table for the week in terms of all the business I need to handle in relation to this site & other related projects with it. However when I got word of Shadow Monster being added to a Monday night bill at Baby’s All Right, nothing was going to stop me from seeing them.

The Bushwick duo of Gillian Visco & John Swanson put on an amazing 7 song set which I felt was the best of the night. All 7 songs are from their upcoming album which I am guaranteeing right now will be the best release of 2018.

The chemistry Gillian & John have was evident from the start with Kill Me Sweetie. It not only was on point, it is a perfect tone setter for the magic that is to come from the rest of their set. The angst in Gillian’s vocals perfectly reflects the powerful message in the lyrics.

Love Gun continues to be another favorite track of mine as I love the dark & soothing guitar & drum work which blends like a perfectly mixed drink with the raw emotion & lyrics of the song.

My favorite moment of the night was the finale which was the performance of my favorite song of 2018, Punching Bag. Like I mentioned in their last show review I will go to as many of their shows as I humanly can just to hear it. If you catch me anywhere outside of a show environment, it is a good chance I am listening to this song as I am obsessed with it!

So if I can teach you anything, it is that you need to check out Shadow Monster at a live show as it is an amazing time you will want to experience time & time again!
