Leading up to CMJ, I browsed as much of the artists that I humanly could. A name that kept coming up was Gossling so I had to check her out. I was immediately blown away with what I heard so she became a definite must see artist. So it should come as no surprise that I made her the first show I saw on the first day of CMJ.
I made my way to Cake Shop shortly before 2PM to catch her open the Aussie Only showcase. Leading up to the show, I was really hoping that the powerful yet extremely unique voice I heard on studio recordings would translate to this live setting. During the first song of her set Big Love, she put those fears to rest as she masterfully grabbed the emotions of the crowd.
She followed that up with Harvest Of Gold, the title track from her upcoming album. This was another beautiful song which really has me excited for its release. Next up was Heart Killer which features this rich drum & bass sound wrapped around her unique voice. I could not help but feel chills listening to her voice sing this song especially during the verses.
Sadly I did not get to see her perform Oh Darling like I had hoped. However after seeing an amazing set that featured a nice mix of newer & older material, I can let it slide. She definitely is a can’t miss talent. If you ever get the chance to see Gossling, you absolutely must as she will tug at your heartstrings from the outset!
